Burnaby Wal-Mart

Friday November 30th...9:30pm Ruth had her first driving lesson with Sherman this morning. The industrial area we were parked in the night before was perfect for a little practice session. The streets were empty. Anyhow, I think she'll do fine. The toughest thing about driving
Sherman is changing lanes and judging your distance from someone else using the mirrors. That's something that comes with practice and patience. We drove into Maple Ridge and found a side street to park on. We were walking distance from a number of notary publics and needed to use one of them to get a letter notarized so that Ruth could bring Sherman into Mexico. Just one of the many little things we needed to take care of before I fly to Mexico on Tuesday morning. Ruth's brother Colin will show up in Vancouver Tuesday afternoon and will drive down to Mexico with Ruth where I'll meet them at the border. We also have to get a certificate of good health from the vet before we leave, as well as a few other little details. After lunch, we stopped in to visit with John and Jolanda, a couple we had met while in Mexico in 2002. They have travelled a lot in their lives, and always have interesting stories. In the complex where they live, there is a small swimming pool and hot tub with showers, and they invited us for a swim. It worked out well, because we were due for showers. They invited us for supper...they had made a pot of soup in their new slow cooker, and had never used one before. It sure did turn out well! After supper, we headed for the Wal-Mart in Burnaby. But when we got there, we found out that it's a Wal-Mart that's located in a shopping plaza, and the parking lot is not really suited to RV's. But we're here now and it's close to where the car rental place is that we're getting a car from tomorrow, and it's dark...so we're staying put unless someone tells us we have to move. Will try and find somewhere a little nicer tomorrow. Total Nights Sleeping in the RV... 47... November Fuel $ 697.58 November Grocery $ 340.02 November Overnight Costs $ 247.38
