Made it up to the Nk'Mip Desert Indian Culture Centre today. It was okay, but at $11 each, it was a little overpriced. Because we're staying at their RV Park, we got a 25% discount off that price. Saw their historical displays of the Osoyoos Indian Band, watched a 20 minute movie, and had a little walk on their trails. Not bad for something to do, I suppose.

Decided to buy new front tires and new coach
batteries for Sherman. Won't get the actual tires until we get to Hope, B.C.,
and will get the batteries closer to Vancouver. We knew when we bought Sherman
that he was going to need new front tires, but I wanted to squeeze a few more
miles out of the ones that were on him, so now we've done that. The batteries
are kind of another story. We have no idea how old they are, and they don't seem
to hold a charge as long as they should. The undecided part of the equation is
what type of batteries to buy. From what I've read, you can buy really good
quality batteries that never require maintenance and are specifically designed
for RV's. Apparently they recharge faster, and will likely last about 5
years...but they cost about $275 each. Or, you can buy relatively inexpensive
deep cycle marine batteries that cost about $100 each at Walmart and maybe have
to replace them every two years. Decisions, decisions...
Was a
nice sunny day today, but a little cool. Good thing there's no wind. It's minus
4 out there just now and they're calling for a high of plus 2 tomorrow. Then,
it's supposed to go to -10 tomorrow night! Hopefully this won't be the one time
the forecast is right. C'mon Mexico...!!!
