Still in Vernon

Monday November 12...10:30pm

Still in Vernon. Found my Aunt Barbara's place...sure enough it was a 5 minute walk from where we are parked at Walmart. Finished doing laundry and spent some time on the internet researching our trip to Mexico. Ruth's brother is going to fly to
Vancouver on the 4th and drive down with Ruth and Sherman, and I'm going to fly down and meet them at the border in Tijuana around the 11th. There are some special vehicle permits we have to get for Sherman, and some paperwork we have to arrange for Whiskey, but nothing that should be a problem. As much as we're enjoying British Columbia, we are REALLY looking forward to a few months exploring Mexico.

We're going to stay in Vernon at least another day while we wait for a package coming from my Mom and Dad. Then we're going to head down to Osoyoos and spend a week down there at one site. We've pretty much decided not to go to Vancouver Island. That's somewhere we'd like to spend at least a month and don't want to try and rush things by only going there for a week and a half. Besides, when you spend the ferry cost to get Sherman there and back, you want to go for as long as possible. Vancouver Island will still be there next time around! Well...if it doesn't slide into the ocean when the next California quake hits...! Speaking of which, there have been some really bad storms in this area with parts of Vancouver losing power, and Penticton about 75 km's south of here had high winds last night with lots of trees and power lines down...but we had nothing here. A little rain this morning, and that was it.

Had a really good lasagna dinner at Aunt Barbara's and my cousin Gail and her husband Carl were there as well. Tomorrow night we're being taken out to a fish and chips place because it's my cousin Ellen's birthday, and I haven't seen her since we were kids. Should be fun.

Was 4 weeks ago today that we left Ottawa. Doesn't feel like it at all. In fact, it still feels like our travels have only just begun!
