Boulevard Casino (day 2)

Sunday December 2nd...9:30pm

If it hadn't been for the snowstorm outside, we probably would have had a really good sleep at the Casino. But we think the guy operating the little bobcat plow was having more fun than anything else when he was plowing the parking lot for what seemed to be all night long. And
did it snow! This is not normal for this part of the country. We left Ottawa to get away from the white stuff! It's raining right now though, and it's supposed to warm up to 10 above by morning, and 12 on Tuesday. So much of what is now on the ground will quickly disappear.

And it snowed pretty much all day. We drove over to a park and went for a long walk along a creek in the deep snow. Ruth had brought our winter boots on this trip, and I had thought there was no way we would use them, but today was the day! And a good thing, because the snow was wet and fairly deep. It was nice out though (if you think snow is nice) and we had a good walk. This area of Vancouver is very dog friendly and even though there is a leash bylaw, there are also little stands all over with biodegradable poop bags and even large fenced in areas if you want to let your dog off leash. Ottawa could learn a few things. On our walk, most people (us included) had dogs off leash anyhow. Whiskey had fun playing in the fresh snow, and the sticky snow would have made for a good snow man.

After lunch, we sorted through Sherman and rearranged some things. Got my Mexico clothes ready to go. Went through some things that never should have been brought with us and will drop them off at the Salvation Army tomorrow. Hopefully that was the last of wearing winter boots for a LONG LONG time!

We have a busy day tomorrow. We are going to go downtown to the Mexican Consulate and get our tourist visa's. I'll get one anyway through my all inclusive trip, but it will likely only be good for a week or 10 days. This way, we should be able to get them for 180 days each. Not sure though, because they say to bring your itinerary and travel plans with you when you come, and we don't really have very much in writing. I guess we'll see tomorrow. And then, we have an appointment at the vet after lunch for Whiskey to get her certificate of good health in order to get her into Mexico. And we wanted to stop at a CAA office along the way somewhere in order to get some maps and stuff for Ruth and her brother Colin to drive down with. Even though we have the GPS unit, Ruth likes to have hard copy maps as well. Somewhere in all this, we also wanted to have a swim and a shower, and we have to move Sherman from the Casino...unless I can swing another night out of them...possibly. And, we're meeting a friend of mine downtown for supper. Hopefully it all goes smoothly. And then Tuesday morning we have to be headed for the airport at somewhere close to 5:30am!

Went into the casino again tonight. We both played with a single $10 bill and at one point went as low as $1.84 before bringing it back up to $12.75 or so. Quit playing when we had our $10 back and went to the bar for a drink. Cheap entertainment for an hour or so.

The snowplow guy seems to have gone home for the day. It's raining and warming up outside, so we should get a decent nights sleep.
