Been on the road for three months!

Tuesday January 15... 10:20pm

Three months on the road! It feels like a lot longer than 3 months since we left Ottawa!

We left early this morning. Made it through La Paz, but I'll tell you, the Mexican road system is not very good at putting signs up. You pretty much have to guess if you're making the correct turn in the correct direction. When we stopped so that Glen and Steve could refill their propane tank, a guy from Quebec pulled over to ask if we thought he was headed in the right direction. He made the same comment about the lack of signs.

We pulled over in the town of Todos Santos and walked around for a bit and checked out Hotel California that was so called made famous by the music band the "Eagles".

We did eventually make it to Los Cerritos beach. The dirt road down here was not in very good shape. Very washboardy, and we had to crawl along at like 5 km/h to get down here. Then, we found that we weren't really at the right spot. This entire area around the beach has been sold to developers and the rustic sort of surfer beach camping is going to be gone. For now, they've closed up the proper RV park, and the RV'ers now park further down the beach on some land that has been broken up for lot development. We were talking to some of them today and they said the surveyors were around yesterday and it's only a matter of days or weeks before they get moved from where they are. The problem is that we are now only about 45 minutes north of Cabo San Lucas, and it's getting very touristy. And as a result, there's a lot of development and the Americans have really moved in.

But we decided for tonight to stay in the parking lot of the Los Cerritos Beach Club...an American style restaurant that opened on the beach here last year. There are quite a few surfer types camped on the beach, and maybe 4 or 5 RV's. But we're told it's safe and the spot further down where the rest of the RV's are parked is kind of busy. Besides, we have wireless internet here from the beach club!

The beach is beautiful. Huge crashing waves from the Pacific Ocean. That's why there are surfers here...we're looking forward to watching them tomorrow.
