Friday January 25...11:30pm
Busy day today. Glen and Steve met a fellow Brit and his wife at our campground. Graham and Dee were really nice, and offered to give us a ride to the car rental place.
After that, they led us to the Costco store here because they have a member card. As we've found with past Costco experience, only some items are a really good deal. Ruth and I didn't buy very much there because we found that Walmart was at least as cheap on most items without having to buy a bulk quantity.
Our rental car was a fairly beat up 2005 Nissan Sentra. Only 50k km's on it, but it's been driven hard. No matter, it's only costing us $19 a day with unlimited mileage. We did a really quick tour of "downtown" Cabo San Lucas, including buying some body shop supplies so that Steve and I can repair a little bad spot on his motorhome that's been there since before he bought it. We'll get to that at a future campsite when we've got nothing to do.
After a late lunch, Steve and I headed to the San Jose del Cabo airport to pick up Malcolm and Claire. It was about a half hour drive from here, but traffic was fairly heavy and we thought we were going to be late. But it turned out that their plane was about a half hour late, so it didn't matter. Finally got them picked up, and headed back towards the RV park. Malcom and Claire are people that Glen and Steve met about 11 years ago in Greece when they first started travelling in an RV. They're going to be travelling with them for the next month or so. On the way back from the airport, we made several stops along the way back for 5W20 motor oil for Steve's motorhome. That oil weight is NOT very common around here. Also, we're looking for a solar panel for ourselves, but haven't been able to come across a good deal, and are now thinking we'll have to make do without one until we are back in the US. So we stopped at a couple of places, but the one place that might have had something was closed at 4pm and we showed up about 5 minutes after that.
After supper, we headed for Walmart to stock up. We think we now have enough groceries to do us until we cross the ferry around February 9th.
