Juncalito Beach (day 3)

Friday January 4...9:35pm

Another great day. It started off a little cloudy, but by noon it was sunny and warm.

The "vegetable guy" showed up today. That is, the guy who comes around and sells fruits and vegetables off the back of his truck. We bought a pineapple, a cantalope, a couple of onions, a green pepper, and a head of lettuce for $5.50. Not dirt cheap, but very reasonable considering the guy is bringing them to you. Now, if they could only bring you milk, eggs, and bread as well...we'd have it made.

We also had an offer from someone down the beach who said that they would give us (holding tank) water if we showed up for it before Friday. But once we're parked, we don't like to start the vehicles again unless we absolutely have to. So Ruth and I took our 5 gallon plastic carry bag to go get some water for the tank. It's not much, but it would enable us to go yet another day if we should need it. It turned out that these people had already left so we kept on walking just for the walk. Then, we came upon a water tap that was working, and decided to fill the bag. Only problem was, we now had to carry this 45 lb bag of water about a km down the beach back to our spot. We did it, but it was a bit heavy. Afterwards, we thought that if we had to, we could do that once a day just for the sake of staying one more day. When it comes down to it, I'd rather carry a bag of water a km on the beach than shovel snow! Anyhow, what will now force us to move on from here is when we need either water or food. We think we're good for a few more days yet.

Had a nice campfire this evening. Our neighbour Herb joined us, as well as a new couple who showed up today. Alejandro and Karen have been to mainland Mexico quite a bit and were more than willing to give us some tips about where we can stay when we get there.
