Tecolote Beach (day 2)

Saturday January 12...11:00pm

Had a good sleep and woke up listening to the waves crash up on the beach. We're parked about 30 metres from the shoreline and have a beautiful view of the bay out our window. We can watch the different ferry boats coming into La Paz.

Over the next couple of weeks we're going to do the circular route down to Cabo San Lucas and then back up to here. When we get back up to here, we're going to take the ferry from La Paz to Mazatlan, on the Mexico mainland. We're close to the ferry terminal here, so Ruth and I rode our bikes there to check out the pricing. It was about 9.5 km's each way. There are 3 different ferry companies doing the run to Mazatlan. We already had the pricing from the more popular company, and it was fairly expensive. Around $1,400 for the motorhome and 2 people, but you had to leave your motorome (and Whiskey) on the vehicle deck for the 18 hour journey, and were not able to go back to it until you arrive. We found the office for the smaller company which does mostly commercial transport. One girl in the office spoke a little English, but not much better than our Spanish, so it was a little tough communicating. But we did manage to get enough info eventually, and it was $645 for the motorhome, and $75 each for the Ruth and I. So $895 as compared to $1,400 on the other one. Plus, we are allowed to stay with our vehicle, and because it's an overnight trip we can get some sleep in the motorhome, and we can visit with Whiskey. And, we also get 2 meals onboard during the trip. So we're going to take that ferry. Will make the reservation in a couple of weeks when we get back from The loop down to Cabo San Lucas.

Relaxed and read for the rest of the afternoon, and had Glen and Steve over for BBQ hamburgers and a few card games in the evening.
