Tecolote Beach

Friday January 11...10:40pm

Said goodbye to Phillip and Patricia at around 9:30am. We drove about 3 hours to La Paz. Very boring scenery most of the way...flat, with the odd bit of brush and cactus. Twice, we saw where a truck had rolled over going
around a corner and lost it's load of tomatoes! Thousands of tomatoes at the side of the road...in two different locations. Steve even went back to one to see if he could salvage any of them, but he thinks he was a couple of days too late. Said it didn't smell very nice.

Saying good-bye to Phillip and Patricia

We made it to the big CCC Grocery store in La Paz, but it wasn't anything special. Seemed a little more expensive that the main store in Ciudad Constitution, so we can't figure out what other people were thinking was so great about it.

We had planned on going to what was supposed to be a tourist information place in La Paz, and we were following Steve and Glen in their motorhome. But it wasn't long before we lost each other and got separated. Then, we couldn't find the tourist place, and ended up stopping by a big hotel and asking directions. The problem with these towns (La Paz is actually a small city) is that it's not always easy to find somewhere to park a motorhome. Anyhow, the guy at the front desk of this hotel didn't know of any tourist office, but gave us directions to Tecolote Beach where we had been headed for camping, and I also managed to get his hotel wi-fi passcode to be able to use the internet from where we were parked. We sat there hoping to see Steve and Glen headed in the same direction, but never did. One of the other things we were doing in this area is checking the pricing of the ferries to Mazatlan. There are 3 different boats that go there, so we need to decide which suits our needs best. But we couldn't find the ferry offices in town, and so will go to the terminal itself tomorrow which is quite close to the beach we're headed for.

So we pulled up to Tecolote Beach (yet another free camping spot) about 5pm, and sure enough, there were Steve and Glen already set up. They had already been to the ferry teminal and got pricing from one company, but we have to go back tomorrow to check with the other possibilities.
