My birthday

Thursday February 7…11:00pm

Woke up this morning to a birthday “package” sitting outside our doorstep. Glen and Steve and Malcolm and Claire had made up a box with balloons and a bottle of wine and a box with cards and card game instructions. Lots
of new games for Ruth and I to learn when we’re back on our own next week. And a birthday card with the following tune written in it…(sung to the toon of “Happy Birthday to You…)

Happy Birthday to you,

You dropped the keys in the poo,

But now you know better,

Happy travels to you.

It was too funny.

Took Steve and Glen into the ferry terminal with us this morning and we all reserved our trip to Mazatlan for Saturday the 9th. We don’t pay until Saturday, but we noticed they have a new price list that went into effect on February 1st, so we are a week or so too late for the old prices. Not too bad though…price for Sherman went up by $35, to $670, and another $77 per passenger. Only good news is that we thought we were going to have to pay $77 per person, but it’s only for Ruth because one driver is included in the vehicle price. So total should be around $747, which is a little less than we thought.

We’ve been in email contact with a lady who lives in Mazatlan. She’s a former RV’er who has volunteered to meet us at the terminal when we arrive and guide us through Mazatlan to the places we need to go. She’s even arranged a safe parking spot for us for the night. So we’re looking forward to meeting up with Lee…she’s been a lot of help so far.

After booking our ferry trip, we drove another 10 km’s or so into La Paz and did a little more grocery shopping. Steve and Glen went for a walk along the waterfront while we went shopping, and they bought themselves a road atlas for mainland Mexico. We’ll have to pick one of those up for ourselves as well at some point.

Ruth made a really good chicken pot pie for my birthday supper, and we had everyone over to enjoy it with us. Glen brought a trifle to go along with Ruth’s strawberry cheescake she had made. Delicious! Then we sat in front of the laptop and we showed Malcolm and Claire all the pics we’ve taken since we started this trip.
