Cocoa, Florida

Thursday March 13...10:30pm

Again, we slept in till 8:00am. We're having a hard time getting any kind of an early start. By the time we got on the road it was about 9:30am, and then we stopped for internet and coffee for a while...and then a lunch stop not long after that!

And so we didn't get to Kennedy Space Center today, but that's fine, we'll go tomorrow. We did stop at a river that the manatees rest at...and there were about 10 or 12 of them there. What funny looking animals they are. Sort of a cross between a whale and a sea lion, but the information sign said they are most biologically related to an elephant.

We're parked up at the Cocoa Expo Sports Center, where we just finished watching a former teammate of Alex's play baseball. Karl plays for Alfred State College, and they're down here for their spring training games. They lost the opener 8-5. A few other RV's are in the parking lot here, and we're pretty sure we can park for the night without problem.

So we're going to get an early start tomorrow and go to the Kennedy Space Center and then go to the beach in the afternoon. Then, we're going to try and park somewhere close to the beach area, even if we have to pay for it, so that we can watch a GPS satellite rocket go up into space around 2am Saturday morning.
