Walked down to the subway station again this morning. Walking quickly, it took about 25 minutes. We took the train to a different area this time, a few minutes walk from the Capitol building. This is Washington’s version of the Parliament buildings in Ottawa. And, as in Ottawa, it’s very impressive looking, although on the east side of the building they are building a visitors center, and the construction kind of takes away from it all.

After we wander around the Capitol building, we head to the Smithsonian buidings. These are a group of museums that are mostly free to the public, however some of them are currently closed for renovations of some sort or another. We did make it into the Museum of the American Indian, and the Museum of Aeronautics and Space. I wasn’t impressed by the Indian museum, however the Aeronautics one was interesting, especially the Space and Apollo exhibits. I think it’s amazing the technology they used back in the mid 60’s and early 70’s.
We tried going for a walk out around the park that surrounds the Washington Monument, but we hadn’t heard the weather forecast this morning, and we were anticipating it getting warmer than the 15C (59F) or so that it did, so we had shorts on and a sweatshirt, but I was too cold. Still, we got to see a lot more stuff and didn’t make it back to Sherman until almost 4pm.
Heading north again tomorrow. Should be in Pennsylvania tomorrow night.
