Friday April 11…10:00pm
I slept with no problems last night, but Ruth said she heard the traffic a fair bit. Either way, we were up at 7am, and on the road pretty much right away. We stopped at around 9am for breakfast and internet. Our goal was still to get to Greenbelt Park outside of Washington, and because we travel on the side roads, we don’t make very good time.
The Baltimore – Washington area is pretty congested with cars, and so there was a lot of traffic lights we had to deal with as we got close to our destination. However, we still arrived before 4pm. Greebelt Park is run by the National Parks Service, and is a fairly large campground right in between Baltimore MD and Washington DC. They don’t take reservations until after May long weekend, and the website says they have never been full in the offseason. Sure enough, there were quite a few vacant sites, although most of them are not very level. It’s $16 a night, with no hookups, but they do have showers.
We were walking over to the pay phone to try calling Lindsey when we met a couple who have lived full time in their motorhome for almost 6 years. Spoke to them for a while, and were offered use of their satellite internet at some point over the weekend. They seem like an nice couple, and we’d like to talk to them some more. It’s always interesting to get the viewpoint of others who live in their RV. Tried to get through to Lindsey, but there was no answer.
Tomorrow we will walk to the subway line and take that into Washington.
