Lowville NY

Monday April 28

Woke up to the sound of the pouring rain this morning.

I had a good internet connection from the parking lot, so we stayed put until 11:00am or so.

We looked for some indoor things to do today, because the forecast was calling for rain all day. The Remington Gun Factory was only 4 miles away, and we read online that they do free factory tours, so that looked like a good spot to go, even though we have no interest in guns at all. It turned out that the tours only operate starting Memorial Day weekend, so we were too early for that. But we did tour the gun museum, and that was kind of interesting.

Then we drove north again, heading back in the direction of Watertown because the ball team plays there again on Wednesday. Also, they’re having a fundraising dinner on Tuesday night, and we agreed to buy tickets (at $10 a piece) for an all you can eat pasta dinner. We took some sideroads to Pixley Falls State Park. It was a really nice location, but the camping is closed until May, and it was still raining. We would have stayed the night, and I’m certain nobody would have bothered us, but there were signs saying “no trespassing” after dusk, so we decided to go another 15 miles north to a Walmart.

So that’s where we sit, at the Lowville Walmart. It’s not a 24 hour store, and it’s quiet already at 8:20pm as I write this, so I expect we’ll have a very peaceful night.
