Dundas, Ontario

Sunday October 19…11:30pm

It was cold last night! There was frost on the ground when we woke up, and a thick layer of it on our roof as well. I checked online, and the weather site said it was -3C (27F) in Marmora.  We had the
furnace set to run on minimum overnight, which kept Sherman’s interior temperature at about 10C (50F). Our propane is running low though, so we have to conserve a bit.

We drove on through to Oshawa and stopped and did a bit of grocery shopping. There are a few things that we are better off buying in Canada and stocking up for the next 6 months. Tea bags and instant coffee are two examples.

By the time we made it through Toronto on the main highway 401, it was just after lunch. Today was Sunday though, so traffic was steady but not that heavy.

We made it to Dundas (just outside of Hamilton) around 2pm and asked at the nursing home across from Ruth’s sister Lesley’s place if we could park there for a couple of hours. They said no problem, and suggested a church down the road where we could likely park overnight.

We only saw one place where we could have filled our propane, and it was near the beginning of our drive today, so I didn’t stop there figuring we would have quite a few opportunities along the way. No such luck, surprisingly enough. We used Lesley’s phone and found a place near where she works but they weren’t able to do it today because there was nobody there who knew how to do it! So we will head there tomorrow. Not supposed to be as cold tonight, so hopefully will have enough propane to do us for the night.

Had supper at Lesley’s and watched the baseball game. Tampa Bay beat the Red Sox, and are going to the World Series. Gotta feel sorry for Boston after mounting such a comeback earlier on when they were down 3 games to 1, but feel good for Tampa Bay as it is there first time going to the World Series and they had the best record pretty much all season long.
