Another great sleep in the jungle! We were ready to go by 7:15am or so because we wanted to get past the unbelievable traffic that is now at Playa Del Carmen and beyond, plus we wanted to get to the beach campground before anybody else showed up because we knew that when we left yesterday there were only two spots left.
We said goodbye to Lynn at Sacbe, and we will hopefully be seeing her at the beach over the next couple of days if she comes to visit us.
It took us about an hour to get to the La Playa restaurant area at Xpu-Ha about 45 km’s south of where we were at Sacbe. Ruth and I visited Playa Del Carmen 6 years ago, and you wouldn’t know it’s the same place. It has been listed as the fastest growing community in North America, which is too bad because we really liked it 6 years ago. Now, I don’t even have any ambition to go into the town (now a city) itself, although Ruth thinks we should hop on a local bus and go visit..
We got parked up at the campground and met the other RV’ers here. It’s just a small campground, and there are about 14 other vehicles here besides us. Most are here for the season though, whereas we are just passing through. I asked about internet, and you can buy a passcode at the restaurant for 125 pesos ($11.38 CAN $9.22 US) which is good for 2 weeks, so we should have consistant internet access for the next few days.
The beach here is the same one we visited with Lynn yesterday, and it’s beautiful. We walked down one end with Whiskey this morning, and then sat in the sun for quite a while. Whiskey seems to like the beach, and she digs herself a hole in the sand to keep cool, and makes sure that it’s in the shade of our lawn chairs…smart dog!
Beautiful beach at Xpu-Ha

Spent the rest of the day being a beach bum, and updating the trip journal on the internet. I think that we will spend the next few days being beach bums!
This butterfly had come into S&G's on the dash and ended up baked in the heat in seconds, poor thing
Nobody came to collect the rent today, so we won’t put anything in that column until we actually pay it.
