Hogar Infintil Orphanage (day 2)

Thursday February 5…11:30pm

We were invited to go for a drive with Douglas, Thomas, and Diane. Dougs wife Darlene stayed behind.

They hadn’t done the boat tour to the canyon, so they wanted to drive to the overlooks and view it from the top. They have tow vehicles with them, so it’s easy for them to drive to some of these places.

We left at about 10am and drove for about an hour to the road to the outlooks. It’s a very steep road, although it is paved. Certainly wouldn’t take a motorhome up there!

A camel was following us...apparently there is a circus in town!

Interesting to see the canyon from the top, although we think the boat trip is really the best way to view it.

I found out we have internet here at the orphanage! They have a computer room here, with wireless access. So when we got back from the canyon, I spent some time before supper playing internet catch up.

Another couple we met in Palenque has been doing the same route as us since then. Connie and Georg are from Germany, and are parked right next to us here so we invited them over for dinner. They are heading up to Oaxaca and then the butterflies near Mexico City, so we likely won’t see them again.

Ruth is feeling better, she’s about 80% now, and I’m pretty much 100% free of stomach problems.
