While on our morning walk, we stopped to chat with a couple from near Barrie Ontario, Clem and Barb.
Clem mentioned that they seem to be having problems with their solar panel and battery system, so I went down to their spot later and checked things out for him. His batteries are 3 years old, and although that’s fairly early for batteries to start to go, they don’t last forever and depending on usage they can deteriorate prematurely.
Yesterday, we had noticed a place downtown that advertised what looked like a very inexpensive roast chicken lunch, so we decided to try it out. Sure enough, it was a great deal. You got a few pieces of roast chicken, rice, pasta salad, and tortillas for 25 pesos ($2.25 CAN, $1.80 US) each. It was really good, and our only complaint would be that there could have been a bit more chicken. But for the price, it was great.
I went for a bike ride heading back towards Puerto Angel. It felt like it was uphill both ways! There are two other entrances to different beaches, but I didn’t go to them because they were down fairly steep hills and I knew I was going to have to ride up them to get out again.
Zipolite beach is one of the best beaches we’ve been to in Mexico. You can rent a very nice room here for 2 people at 350 pesos ($31.50 CAN, $25.20 US) a night, and cheaper if you stay for a week or more. Or you can rent a very basic beach cabin for 150 pesos (13.50 CAN, $10.80 US) per night.
The white building to the left is the one with the nice rooms for 350 pesos
