Wednesday March 25…11:30pm
We actually had a pretty good sleep parked at the Pemex gas station. We were expecting it to be a bit noisy because of the trucks that use their engine break on the hill going into town, but it wasn’t too bad at all.
We drove to the La Quemada ruins which are just off the road to Zacatecas. We spent a couple of hours there wandering around. There were a couple of busloads of schoolchildren there, but otherwise it was pretty quiet.

Kevin...when you build the walls this thick, they last for a long long time!
It was about 1:30pm when we arrived in Zacatecas. They are doing some road construction around the area where we were trying to find our couchsurfing host Alejandra, but we only made one wrong turn and eventually ended up doing some grocery shopping at a big Soriana store just around the corner from her house.
We met Alejandra and her 11 year old son Antonio, and were immediately invited in for some tacos which she had been getting ready. She had to go to work at 5pm, but she came back to check on us around 8:30pm, and then took us for a drive around Guadalupe, which is a suburb of Zacatecas.
Tomorrow, she’s going to drop us off downtown on her way to work in the morning.
