Saturday April 18…11:00pm
Got on the road early, but there sure was a lot of traffic for a Saturday morning. Everybody out and about I suppose. Tons of busy stores around Lancaster, Ohio. You’d never know there’s a recession on.
Fairly uneventful drive today. Took some of the backroads up to the Interstate 71, and then north and east through the congestion of the Cleveland, Akron area. Not bad though, and we made it through without a problem. Only one 1 mile section of highway under repair. Stopped in Lake City, Pennsylvania looking for somewhere to park for the night but nowhere convenient so we went to the Walmart in Erie, Pennsylvania. It’s near a train track, so hopefully there won’t be too many of them through the night!
In almost all of the Walmarts we have stayed at, they have a red vending machine in the entranceway called Redbox DVD rental. It advertises DVD movie rentals for $1. So we decided to try it. You have to pay with a credit card and once you swipe your card, you provide the terminal with an email address. Choose your movie, and out it comes. No paperwork, nothing. Just the DVD in a special holder. Simple. So we rented the Get Smart movie from last year. Got back to the motorhome, checked emails, and there’s one from redboxdvd.com saying what time I rented the movie at, and when it’s due back. You can return it to any other redbox machine. If you keep it longer than a day, they charge you another dollar. So, we watched the movie, and I returned it to the machine. Now I have an email saying my return was successful. Not bad for a buck! We’re going to use that more often when travelling.
Filled up the gas tank again before we left Ohio. It gets more expensive as you go into Pennsylvania and New York state.
Whiskey's birthday today. She's 13, and can still do a 6 mile (10 km) hike with us!
