Wednesday April 1… 10:30pm
Made it to the Goodyear Tire Center in Weslaco, just about 7 miles from the RV park, at about 9:30am, and it was almost 1pm by the time we had two tires installed and one wheel moved from front to back. To be fair, I had said we weren’t in a rush and to look after anybody else first, and they were pretty busy.
With 2 new front tires, we drove to McAllen where I had found a spring and alignment shop who was going to remove the poorly designed front spring and air bag setup, and replace with more modern heavy duty springs. These guys really seem to know what they’re doing, and inspected the front end for any other necessary parts. They showed me how we needed lower ball joints, and upper control arm bushings, as well as the spring and alignment work. I’m guessing the front end parts on Sherman are all original, and now with 50,000 miles and 13 years, it’s time for some necessary repairs. After all the bumpy roads in Mexico, I’m looking forward to driving with a new front end and on some good roads!
We have an appointment for 7:30am to get the work done, so have to leave here early tomorrow morning. Whenever they finish, we will head to South Padre Island where we will meet up with Bill and Bonnie again and free camp for a couple of nights.
