We woke up early, but stayed at the Leesville, Louisiana Walmart until about 9:00am taking advantage of a good internet connection.
Drove about 128 miles (206 kms) today, and made it across the mighty Mississippi River to Natchez, Mississippi.
The Visitor Center in Natchez has a lot of interesting displays, but we are not itching to do the mansion tour at $38 US ($47 CAN) per person! I am tempted to tell the tour person that they have missed a decimal point somewhere in the price! Does that include 3 meals…? Unbelievably expensive to us.
We decide to walk to the downtown section, taking Whiskey with us. There had been a reasonably priced trolley tour operating at some point, but we are told that it has been discontinued. Doesn’t matter, because we have a short walk anyhow under clear blue skies to explore the Natchez dowtown area. It’s a nice area, but I can’t help but think it’s very quiet….not much going on, and it’s a good thing they have a bit of a tourist trade to keep things active.
Ruth and the Mississippi River
Do you think they have a spare bedroom...?
The visitor center allows overnight RV parking, but their parking lot is on a 6 degree angle, making it difficult to get level. We end up scouting out a spot near the wifi signal, and I’m able to put lots of blocks under the wheels to get us at a comfortable angle. There is only one other RV couple here, and they didn’t do a very good job of getting themselves level. They will have a crooked sleep!
Now this a cool homemade RV!
Getting us level!
