Kingston, Ontario

Saturday May 30…7:45am

Well, we have been a full month at the KOA Kingston. Work is going well, and there’s not much else going on. Ruth has been given extra hours working at the campground…she’s now in charge of cleaning the pool as well.

The only thing that would make this all better is the weather! It has been cool and rainy for the last two weeks. More like April weather than May! I don’t know what happened to this “global warming” but it’s sure not happening around here.

We signed up for a DVD movie delivery service. www.zip.ca sends us as many movies as we want, one at a time. But you can only have one out at a time, so how many you watch in a given month depends on the mail service. So far, it’s been really good. We started May 4, and so far we’ve watched 6 DVD’s. The monthly cost for our level of service is $10.95, so it’s a pretty good deal considering you don’t have to drive anywhere. You can upgrade to 2 at a time, or even 3 at a time if you pay more money. They deliver them right to your mailbox, and include a postage paid envelope for returning them. If anyone in Canada sends me their email address, I can get you your first month free if you want to sign up.

We bought a printer for our laptop. We don’t like buying anything brand new because we don’t like paying tax. But we saw a deal on a brand new HP printer (still new in the box) for $40! This printer sells for $89 in the stores but this guy had received his as part of a package deal when he bought a new computer, so he didn’t need it. We got a good deal!

And, we got a $300 Sears gift card in exchange for some Sears points we had built up over many years. So Ruth bought a Sony MP3 walkman so that she can listen to music while she works. We paid $99 plus tax (yes, we bought this new, but only because our Sears gift card had to be spent at Sears.) so now we still have $185 or so to spend at Sears. Not sure what to buy. We’re looking for a couple of those fold up lounge chairs, but the older style that they used to make don’t seem to be around anymore. We’ll keep looking.
