Back in Kingston

Well the last week went by very quickly. We left last Sunday at 4pm and drove all night to get to Lindsey’s place in Kentville, NS. We took turns driving, but still found it difficult to get any sleep on the road. Driving 1,600 kms (1,000 miles) straight through is a LOOOONG drive!
We stopped for gas 3 times, managing to avoid filling up in either Quebec or Nova Scotia where gas is regulated by the government, and therefore more expensive. We use www.gasbuddy.com to get all the gas prices so we planned ahead of time to stop and fill up where the cheapest gas was going to be found. It ended up costing us about $100 CAN each way.

Arrived at Lindsey’s around 10am. Just relaxed for most of the day, and Ruth had a nap. When Justin arrived home, the four of us went over to his mothers place where we had been invited for dinner. But we had to eat and run because my mother and sister were arriving (they flew in to Halifax and rented a car) and we were to meet them back at Lindsey’s. We just about missed them as we were a few minutes late and they were just driving out as we showed up. So we visited with them for the rest of the evening before they left to a nearby motel they had booked.

On Tuesday, the graduation ceremony was to start at 9:30am. These things always seem to be poorly organized, so we figured we had better arrive early. Lindsey took our car because she had to be there well before us. So we left with Justin, and on the way there remembered that our tickets were in the glove box of our car! Apparently very few tickets were available, and Lindsey had a hard time scrounging up a few more for us and her grandmother and aunt. So when we got there, we hahd to find Lindsey, and then the car. I did all this running, and we managed to get into the hall a few minutes before everything started. I was very frustrated to find out that they didn’t even check for tickets, and we could have walked right in without them. Also, although we had to sit in the balcony, there were quite a few empty seats up there. It amazes me how these graduations are supposed to celebrate education, and yet all these educated people can’t properly run an event like this!

Anyhow, it was enjoyable to watch our daughter graduate and we’re glad we made the trip.

My mother took us all out for lunch to The Port Pub where Lindsey used to work. Then we went to to visit with Justins Dad and his wife Jane where we had a nice BBQ chicken dinner.

Wednesday morning, time to hit the road again for the long drive back to Kingston. We left at 8:30am, and arrived back home at 1:30am in the morning.

Worked Thursday, Friday, Saturday and now getting ready to do some things around here before heading to work again today. At least the weather is nice…sunny outside just now but only heading for a relatively cool high of only 19C (66F). The weather hasn’t been bad…but it hasn’t been good either. Still too cold for our liking, and really looking forward to some hot summer weather!

Total nights sleeping in a motorhome…593
