Bald Eagles

About a 20 minute drive from here is a really good spot to see bald eagles. The eagles normally go south during the winter, not because the cold bothers them, but because it's easier for them to find food when there's no snow on the ground.

Anyhow, quite a few years ago the chicken farmers in this area began leaving dead birds out for the eagles to eat. The eagles are now used to this, and they come to the area in the winter because they know they get well fed here.

There are about 4 bald eagles in this pic, and a few ravens

A good close up of one

  1. Reminds us of the many bald eagles we saw several years ago along the Mississippi River when we were traveling in Iowa.
