Sunsets

When people are travelling they usually have time to see things that they don't normally notice or never took the time to notice.  Sunsets are something that most working people just don't take the time to look at.

Even in the big cities where you would think a sunset can't be seen, you would be surprised, if just a few minutes could be given to take a look.  Sometimes a short drive is needed to get to get a better view, but they are there.  Life goes by way to fast and a sunset is just a small thing that happens every day, but look at what it seems to do to people who stop to look at them.  They can be so calming, it doesn't matter how many you see, they still take your breath away each and every time.

Traveler's Digest lists these following places as the Top Ten Best Places to see a sunset in the World...

Sentosa Island, Singapore
Ipanema Beach, Rio de Janeiro
The Maldives, Indian Ocean
Cape Town, South Africa
Grand Canyon, Arizona
Great Pyramids, Egypt
Serengeti, Tanzania
Taj Mahal, India
Santorini, Greece
Santa Monica Pier, Los Angeles

We have been fortunate though to take the time to see lots of sunsets and have seen them is so many places and they always look so different.

Here are some that we have seen that we think are pretty special, they may not be from the 10 best places but are some of our great places.

From the airplane from Vancouver to Ottawa 2001

Red Pine Camp, Golden Lake, Ontario 2004

From the lookout on Lookout Trail, Pancake Bay Prov. Park, Ontario 2004

Lost Dutchman State Park, Arizona 2005

Regent Casino, Winnipeg, Manitoba 2007

Foremost, Alberta 2007

Lookout before San Diego, California, 2007

Take the time for all the simple pleasures of life, before they pass you by, and all you have left are regrets.

  2. Terrific Post !!
Like I always tell Teresa, we might not have a lot of money if we retire early, but, it's the same sunset, whether we are in our little rig, or a million dollar Prevost !!
Besides, I prefer beer and hot dogs, over steak and Champagne...LOL

  4. Trent...I prefer beer and steak!

Karen...thanks for the tip. Fort Desoto Park looks beautiful. It's too pricey for an overnight stay for us, but we'll try and visit the day use area while we're there.
