Google gave us some money!

Well, we received our first payment from Google Adsense!

I'm showing a deposit today from Google Adsense for the amount of $137.88. That's our payment for December and January. So we're not going to get rich, but it's a lot better than paying another site to host our travel stories. I'm hoping that when we start travelling daily (March 1st!) people will check in more regularly and visit the advertisers more often. Our statistics show that we are getting approximately 100 unique visitors every day.

That Adsense income includes what we make from the ads on my hobby site http://www.lastminutefromcanada.com/. I have also made a grand total of $110 in donations that people have given me for helping them find a great price for their holiday. Again, not going to get rich, but I enjoy doing it.

You can read our post about Google Adsense here.

And another bit of good news, the solar panel we bought from eBay has been shipped. Remember on Tuesday I said that I hadn't heard from the seller despite the several emails I had sent. Well the payment showed on paypal as being cleared yesterday, and he sent me an email last night saying it had been shipped. He supplied me with the UPS tracking number, and sure enough, it's on it's way to the UPS store in Myrtle Beach where we will pick it up next week. He offered no explanation as to why he didn't answer my emails. Very strange, but at least it's all working out. Now we just have to hope that it arrives without any damage.

Only 3 more sleeps until we hit the road!

  1. I'm glad to see that they shipped the solar panels, I always bite my nails when ordering off Ebay having read so much bad about some of the people on there. I almost got swindled, but the deal (we were bidding on a Nintendo DS for my son) seemed too good to be true. Turned out someone else bid higher than me so I left it alone, and the winner of the auction ended up sending a bad report because he never got his DS. Whew! Dodged that one!

It will come with no damage, Im certain of it. They would not bother shipping it if it was broken, hopefully UPS is careful! labelled properly there should not be a problem. (Camping World has shipped lots through UPS to me, never had an issue yet).

Keep me posted, Im interested on how this plays out!
Great photo today! Love the idea of being so isolated!!!
    So quiet....

  2. We will definitely keep you updated on the solar panels, Kevin was quite relieved when he finally got a reply back from the seller as well as the tracking number.

We have been keeping our eye on the weather in the states, making sure that we don't hit snow along the way, looks pretty good at the moment, only place we may have a problem will be Syracuse, NY on the first day.

Yes that spot looks nice and isolated, but it really wasn't. If you walk in either direction you hit the other campers. We were lucky to get this one all by itself. This campground was free with no services, so there were lots of people using their generators but we were far enough away we couldn't hear them.
