Busy, busy, busy

Well just like the title says, I've been busy.  The campground is pretty much all ready now.  We are having some issues with the swimming pool.  Hans the owner wanted it open this weekend for the KOA Kare Kamp weekend.  Unfortunately I don't think that will happen.

It's still pretty early to have the pool open, but the kids want it.  Last year I don't think we had it open until after the May long weekend.  So I've been having to vacuum it this week.  The problem with the pool is we can't get the water clear, it looks pretty good otherwise we just have to get rid of the cloudyness.

The camp has been quiet during the week, even last weekend was slow, but this weekend every RV spot is full and even some of the tenting sites.  The cabins are booked up and a few of the cottages.  The lodges weren't booked because they weren't expected to be ready until the May 24th weekend.  We got them done this week so they are now open for booking.  It took me two days to clean the second one up in between all the other chores I was doing.  Lynn was moving last week and had the week off.  The lodges look really good.  Kevin and I said that we would have no problem actually living in one fulltime they are so nice.  Just missing an oven for cooking.

I was supposed to go and get Alex today and bring him back to Ottawa for the summer, but it is possible that his baseball team will get a bid into the NCAA regional championship games so they are waiting to hear about that.  He has to be out of the dorm by today, so we are not sure what his has sorted out for the balance of his time there or when either Kevin or I will have to go and pick him up.

Other than both of us working we really haven't been doing anything.  Kevin is working 7 days a week at the moment, but can take a day off on an occassional Sunday.  He hasn't had any time to work on his to-do list yet.  I have worked the last 7 days in a row and will continue until Monday afternoon when I will go back up to my Dad's for a visit for a couple of days.  We don't mind the working so much because we know it means having five months off for the winter so it is worth the effort.

Last night we sat out for drinks with our neighbour, he is here for the season and works with Kevin at the RV place.  His home is an hour and a half away or so, so he finds it better to just stay here in his fifth wheel and his wife comes up on the weekends.

I can't get over how many of the units that are here this weekend are from Kingston, which is only minutes away.  Not really my idea of a holiday, even for a weekend, but I guess they look at it as time to relax and let the kids out to play without having to actually be with them, no real housework and some come with friends so they sit around the campfire with drinks and socialize.  Kevin wonders why they just don't just sit in their driveways!  We have been getting a few rentals though during the week, though they are mostly Europeans on holiday.  I noticed that last year as well.  I think this past week alone we have had at least 2 or more units in the park every night.

Anyway that's about all the news for now, not too exciting.

  1. Have you checked he ph on the pool? You'd be amazed how fast it clears up with a little muratic acid if that is the problem.

  2. I am sure Hans has, he sent a water test to the pool place and it sounds like the water is out of balance. I don't worry myself with that, all I do with the pool is vacuum it in the morning during the week until the end of July then the high schools boys look after it and on the weekends until then. I am sure it will be fine sometime this week.

  3. Wow....you guys are crazy busy !! I sure hope your guests are well behaved this weekend.

As for us....well....we are still here !! We have also been very busy. Between helping out our young adult children, and taking our parents to doctor's appointments, etc, we have been going and going.

And on top of that, we have sold our house, and we are buying a condo under construction. ( Ya, we chickened out of fulltiming for a year or two ) We are going to be snowbirds, and then return home in the summer, because.....we are now grandparents !! Yup, at 47 and 48, we are now grandparents.

We are pretty tired, and a little stressed, but also very excited. Having the condo means we can just lock the doors and go !!

So even though we haven't had much time, we still check in on you guys every day. We can hardly wait to begin our adventures, and we look very forward to meeting you guys in person, on the road !!

  5. Trent and Teresa....Congratulations on becoming grandparents, you both must be so happy.

Well selling the house and buying a condo is definitely a step closer. At least you will be able to get away for the winter. You will be able to check out places in advance and have a better idea on where you will want to go when you do start fulltiming.

Keep us posted on how things are progressing.

Karen and Steve....Yep, one weekend down and many more to go. Hope you had a good weekend!
