What an icky day!

The weather today is so totally different from yesterday.  Yesterday was beautiful, a little on the breezy side but none the less beautiful.  Today on the other hand started out overcast and the rain held off until lunch time then it came down in buckets.  So Whiskey and I stayed inside this afternoon and worked on pictures and made enough yummy split pea and ham soup for lunch tomorrow and the next day and probably the next.

Not too much has been happening here in the last week.  The weekend was busy but not packed, that will happen again in about two weeks and then the summer here really begins!  I've been doing much of the same old thing.  Some mornings I am cleaning the pool when Hans the owner is too busy.  Kevin likes the poolgirl on those days!  I have also been starting to learn the system at the front desk.  It is fairly straight forward, I just need to remember the different codes.  I will be working more on that over the next week or two so that I will be up to snuff by the time the busy season rolls around.  I believe I will be working at least one day a week on the front desk, Saturday from 3pm to 9pm.  I can also take any ofther shifts that others can't do either because they are sick or on holiday.  It will make for a change from cleaning all the time.

Yesterday and today are my days off and really the first that I felt I could relax more with.  Yesterday I got some cleaning done and some laundry and the freezer portion of the fridge defrosted and cleaned.  I was going to clean the fridge out today but I went grocery shopping this morning and it is all full again, it will have to wait a little longer.  In the afternoon I sat outside and read for a while and I think I also dozed off in the shade for a bit.

I took Whiskey for a nice walk yesterday morning as well.  There is a nice trail called the K&P Trail that has been made from an old railroad line that used to go through this area.  One direction is a little boring and that was the way I went this time, I go the other way more often.  I went early enough that no one was around so Whiskey can go off leash, it was only as I was nearing the end of the trail that two bikers passed by us and by then I had to put Whiskey back on the leash anyway as we were nearing the road.  When it is busy I put her on, there are too many bikes and other dogs.

Today as I have said, I did groceries this morning, most of it before the rain and this afternoon just hunkered down in Sherman and worked on organizing pictures on the laptop some more, and made the soup.  Took Whiskey out again after the rain stopped.

Kevin has been keeping you up to date with his projects, although he came home from the RV place at lunch with another new project, but I'll let him tell you about that in another post.

  1. Sometimes a rainy day can be nice too... gives you a chance to slow down and relax and reflect. Have a great weekend!
