Well, today was my last day doing the blood driving job. And Ruth is pretty much finished at the campground. And I quit my other job at the RV place a week ago.
So we are just another statistic.
No job, no money, no future. The ranks of the unemployed.
And we are VERY happy to be unemployed. Although I was (am) somewhat upset at leaving the blood driving job today. It was a great job and it never felt like work to me. It was just "going for a drive". And I will miss the girls in the Perth office. Although we often only had 5 minutes to chat, I really felt like I got to know you over the last year or so. We have the option of coming back to this job next April, but who knows what the next 6 months have in store for us.
The guy who ran into our little car last week has agreed to pay us $350 in compensation for the damages. It's really just some scratches, but the cheapest estimate for repairs was $359, and the most expensive was $707. The middle estimate was $410. Because I used to be in the business I knew which estimate was accurate, and we were both happy to settle for the lowest one. We don't have time to actually get the car repaired, so will just pocket the cash for now.
Speaking of the car, I have just listed it for sale. I have a couple of other people I know who are interested in "renting" the car from us for the winter, but I would just as soon sell it. Second choice might be "renting" it to someone, and third choice would be just to store it for the winter. The renting option requires a fair bit of trust, and I'm not sure it's worth the effort. We'll see what happens with response to the advert for the weekend.
Hoping to head out of here on Wednesday the 20th. Despite what our countdown clock on the right says, this is only 4 days away! (I just fixed it! Now, it's accurate! I think...close enough anyhow)
A friend of ours just emailed me to say they are heading with their 5th wheel trailer to the Nascar race at Talladega, Alabama for the 30th. I hadn't thought of it, but that's not really that far from Lexington, Kentucky which is the first area we're heading for. I haven't checked with Ruth yet, but maybe that's a detour worth making!
Congrats on being unemployed. Talladega sounds like a good stop to me.
ReplyDeleteOh, the insurance adjuster in me worries about "renting" your car out. Be careful.
ReplyDeleteYes, I know what you mean Karen and Al. Will likely NOT go that route.
