Playa La Entrega (Huatulco, day 7)

We know that life is not always easy, and that sometimes tough choices have to be made. So the first decision of the day was to figure out which beach to go snorkeling at.

We decided to walk down to Playa La Entrega, which was the beach that we went to the other day that was so busy. We figured that if we went down early, around 8:30am it would be better…and it was.

The new masks and snorkels worked great! Amazing how they have improved the technology of a snorkel. When we were kids, it was just an empty tube shaped like a J…now, they have a valve at the top that closes when you go under water, and another valve at the bottom that lets any water or moisture buildup out. Much easier! And the masks fit great, although still have a problem with fogging up. I know, spit on the the inside of them. I’ve read that cleaning the inside with toothpaste works too, so maybe we’ll give that a try.

Bought some bananas to feed the fishies, but fogot to bring them! Will remember tomorrow.

Alex says that paddling around and watching the fish never gets boring. He’s right, the only thing that got me out of the water was that my hands were starting to shrivel up and look like prunes. Great fun, and even better now that we have some decent equipment.

Alex and I played 27 games of backgammon today, while Ruth spent most of the afternoon reading her book. But she also made chicken stew with the leftover roast chicken from yesterday…I love chicken stew!

The Las Palmas Villas and Casitas that are a short walk from our location. The villas are all 4 bedroom, six bathroom and rent for $4,800 US per week.

I went for a bike ride just before dinner. There is a closed roadway under construction near here, and they have one side paved already, so it makes for nice bike riding. It’s very hilly though, so you’re either going fast downhill, or working very hard in first gear to go uphill!

Watched “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” with Nicholas Cage. He’s one of my favorite actors…very versatile. In comparison, we watched a girly Jennifer Anniston movie the other night, and while Jennifer is nice to look at, no matter what part she plays, she’s always just Rachel.

  1. I'm so jealous! For foggy masks, I find the best thing is just to invest in a bottle of mask defog. It works much better than spit or toothpaste and you only need a few drops. Have fun!

  5. Karen and Al...Thanks, Karen, when we come back to the States we might look into that. I don't think we will be in many more places that have good snorkelling this trip.

Rick and Paulette...Thanks Rick, it has been great.

WBY...I think it is that way with most of the characters from Friends. We see their faces and automatically think of Friends.

Croft...Yeah, spit works better than toothpaste, can't compare it to the mask defog though as we have never tried it.
