I think there are seven beaches in the Puerto Escondido area, and today we went to Playa Manzanillo. I had read that it might be good for snorkeling, and because it’s a weekday and children are in school, it shouldn’t be too busy. And I was right.
Panorama shot of Playa Manzanillo. It’s a small, pretty beach set in a cove so there aren’t any big waves.
View from our spot in the shade
Mary knows one of the ladies who runs a small restaurant at the beach, so we were able to set ourselves up in the shade at one of the tables. We bought a couple of drinks, and they didn’t care that we were picnicking at their table. There was a sign that said no dogs were allowed in the water at this beach, but nobody questioned Whiskey being with us. We have never once been bothered by a dog being at the beach. I don’t know why we are so uptight about that kind of thing in Canada and the U.S. It’s a totally different attitude.
It was a pretty rought day. Not sure I can take too many more of these.
Ruth went snorkeling, but I was quite happy staying back with Whiskey. They have a few hammocks strung up and I found a comfortable spot in one of them. Mary had never been snorkeling before, so Ruth convinced her to strap on the mask and showed her how things worked. Turned out that she really enjoyed the experience!
Had an email from blog followers Tracy and Jim who live in Puerto Escondido. They’ve asked if we want to get together, and we do! So hopefully we’ll set something up for Thursday.
Wow, what a day! Sounds lovely!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking beach. Loved the hammock too!
ReplyDeleteAfter all the snow here, I can use a beach and a hammock.Be safe out there. Sam & Donna...
ReplyDeleteSo was the snorkeling good?
ReplyDeleteHello Kevin and Ruth, David and Marina here, Thanks for that wonderfull spot in Zipolite, we are now in Puerto and will search you out on our daily walk to the point
ReplyDeleteHasta luego
Gail...We had a great day!
ReplyDeleteRick and Paulette...Most of the beach restaurants have them. Kevin wants to buy one, if he does I'll never get any work out of him.
Sam and Donna...You guys sure have taken a pounding this year. Hopefully you can enjoy the beach and hammock next winter.
Karen and Al...Not the greatest. It couldn't even compare to the snorkelling at Playa La Entrega in Huatulco. Mary enjoyed herself though and she got to see some pretty fish.
Dave...Glad you enjoyed the spot, much better than the RV park. I don't think you will find us at Puerto after all. We are still in Barra de Colotepec and hoping to head north from here on Friday. Spent a little more time here than we thought we would. Sorry we will miss you, it would have been nice to get together once more before we headed back. Keep in touch though as you travel faster than us and maybe we will be able to meet up further on.

Looks like you two are having a good time in Mexico. I wish we had the courage to go down there, but will wait for the unrest on the border to get better. We have never stayed down there, but have walked over twice and really liked it. Thanks for your comment. Stay cool.
ReplyDeletePidge...We are having a great time and great weather another reason we love Mexico. We haven't seen any trouble along the way and have felt very safe.

Now that hammock looks mighty fine to me!
