Cross, SC (day 3)

Another peaceful nights sleep. Woke up a little stiff and sore though, but I have to get the other air bag installed, so I’ll just have to suck it up!

The second air bag, for the passenger side went in the way it was supposed to. The entire assembly slid right into place, the only time consuming thing was tightening the bolts because there’s still no room for the wrench to swing. Just took a little more patience, but it’s done.

All the pieces

Then, I had to mess with the drivers side again because I forgot to install a heat shield. Because the drivers side air bag is so close to the exhaust, there is a heat shield required. My own stupidity, but now that’s done too.

Passenger side installed!

Tomorrows job will be running the air lines and installing the compressor and wiring, and then it should be done!

Saw some deer while on our morning walk

I guess this road gets a little dusty at certain times of the year!

On a different note, we are now on baby watch. Daughter Lindsey is over 38 weeks pregnant, and is due at some point over the next couple of weeks. We still hope to be in Nova Scotia for the big event, so hopefully our first grandchild will hold off for another two weeks!

Lindsey, and big tummy!

  4. Lovely photo of the deer. Sort of gets you into that Canadian plane of mind! You impress us with your mechanical abilities!

  5. That was the one thing I wasn't too keen on with the Ford F53 chassis, and that was the harsh ride. On some of the back roads, especially where the road crews had filled in all the seams it was just brutal. I'll be curious to see what you think of the new bags. Mind you, I found that a lot of the jarring seemed to come from the front. Will you do the front end at some point as well?
I do have to say, even though I'm not much of a Ford fan, the engine and drive train of motorhome we had worked just tickety boo, with never a bit of trouble. If and when we ever buy another motorhome, I certainly hope we are as fortunate once again.

    Best to you.

    Bob.

  7. Great pics! Wow Kevin, I have a whole list of things I want to do to the Funfinder. I'd offer you a free place to stay for a couple of weeks but that is already a given :)

  9. Sam and Donna...It shouldn't be too bad. It should take us about a week, travelling on the interstates. Our daughter said there is no snow there at the moment but I think New Brunswick still has snow on the ground. If we see weather is turning bad we will stop until it is better.

    Pidge...Thanks!

Kenny and Angela...Kevin hopes that all his work will pay off.

Contessa...Thank you. He has always been mechanical, so it certainly helps when you have an older motorhome.

Bob...You are right the frontend seems to be where you feel it more. Two years ago in Texas we had new properly rated springs installed in the frontend and noticed an immediate difference in the ride. Kevin installed these Ride Rite Air Helper Springs because the backend was starting to sag. Got them working yesterday and looks like they will work great. Sherman is definitely sitting much straighter now. Won't know how he rides until we leave here on Saturday.

WBY...She's does look great doesn't she?

    Chris...Get the list ready! lol

heyduke50...We are sure hoping so, thanks.
