Made it into the U.S.A.
Just a short note to say that our drive from Monterrey and our border crossing at Laredo were both totally uneventful. We are now in Texas. Not sure where we're going to end up tonight, but we will try and post a complete update later on today, provided we have internet access!

Glad to see you are safe, post when you can!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! Glad the border crossing went well.
ReplyDeleteCan't tell you how much I enjoyed traveling with you on this adventure south of the border. Hope you are going back again. My wife and I leave for Valladolid and Merida Yucatan in five months for a very long stay. Have a safe trip home.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteMichael...We really like Valladolid very much. Beautiful little town. They have a big cenote in town that is wonderful. Merida was nice but we liked Campeche better, still it is has a pretty centro area. Enjoy your stay there!

Most WalMarts will say "Yes" even though they are posted no parking. If someone takes advantage and overstays their welcome then it is easy to move them on their way by pointing to the sign.
ReplyDeleteKevin,Ruth & Whiskey: We live each night to rush home from work and read about your travels. We are also retiring at the end of 2011 and will be starting our journey into Mexico in Jan 2012. We currently live in White Rock BC and will be travelling with Eury, our '92 VW Westfalia and our old dog, Morgan, the 12 yr old Scottie. We believe the Baja and across the ferry to Mazatlan will be our beginning. We can hardly wait and hope to see you somewhere on route. We are now reading and plotting all your trips on a map to see the "loops" you take. Doug & Nancy
ReplyDeleteCroft...You are right, but there are a few that are posted "No Overnight Parking" because of city bylaws that don't allow overnight parking. We always go in and ask.
ReplyDeleteDoug and Nancy...Glad you are enjoying our adventures. You will enjoy Mexico I am sure. It is just hard waiting for that time to arrive. A Westfalia is a great vehicle to drive in Mexico with, as you have access to more places (into the cities and towns more). Hope to see you on route as well. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email us, we are more than happy to help out anyway we can.
