One of the things I was browsing on the net was other ways to make money from this blog. You read stories of people making thousands of dollars a month, and although we don’t need that much, it would be nice to get some worthwhile income..like maybe $500 a month. We’re getting there…last month was decent, at $156.54. But we don’t want to do things that alienate our reader base or take away from the purpose of this blog. I signed up for clickbank.com, but the only way to make money is to “advertise” products with a link that we make commision if you buy something. Not sure I want to go that route. I really like Adsense, but for some reason people don’t visit the advertisers on a consistent basis, even though it costs nothing to do so. People like Tioga George mange to make a decent income from it, but he’s been at it for a lot longer than us, and he has a much higher following of people. Anyhow, it’s a fun hobby and we enjoy doing it even if we don’t get rich from it!
In the afternoon, Ruth went with Alejandra to buy a couple of “rebozos”. A rebozo is a type of shawl used by a lot of indiginous women in the southern parts of Mexico to carry their child. We think it’s a simple idea, and maybe our daughter would use one. So Alejandra knew someone who sells them so she and Ruth went and bought a couple at the mercado in downtown Zacatecas.
This is a picture I took in the spring of 2009, showing a woman using a rebozo to carry her child.
Afterwards, they stopped by the municipal building and Alejandra knows a lot of people there because she has run for office a couple of times, and Ruth was introduced to the mayor of Guadalupe, a subdivision of Zacatecas.
Ruth and Alejandra made a lasagna for supper, it was really good. And afterwards, Ruth gave haircuts to both Alejandra and Tonio. For those of you who didn’t know, Ruth used to be a licenced hairstylist in another lifetime, and actually that’s how she and I met! She cut my hair, and I asked her on a date! Too funny…and here we are!
We’re heading out tomorrow, a long drive expected to take us to Saltillo area.
We're posting this with a bad cellular connection...will have to post more pictures later!
Now theres a way to save money,on haircuts, here it is about 16 dollars for a man to get a trim, since I have been saving money it has been a couple of months, before the winter is over I will get a USMC buzz and that will last a couple more months.Hope you guys are away from the traffic in your header. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna...
ReplyDeleteI need a haircut Ruth :).
ReplyDeleteI paid 50 pesos the other day for a haircut, about 4 dollars.
Sam and Donna...Yeah, Kevin hasn't paid for a haircut since then, but maybe it has cost him more in the long run! The traffic in the header picture was in downtown Zacatecas with Alejandra, Tonio and I in the car, luckily not in the motorhome.
ReplyDeleteChris...If you need a haircut, I can give you one on the weekend, no es problema! Looking forward to seeing you again.

I need a haircut, but am too far away. Oh well, will have to rely on first choice haircutters.
ReplyDeleteWeather still quite cold here. Seems to be a never ending thing.
Gas prices went up alot here today. they forecast more increases too. Going to be an expensive summer!!!
Are you guys coming tomorrow (Friday) or Saturday? We're ready.
ReplyDeleteWBY...Sorry I can't give you one, my arms aren't long enough! Not looking forward to the gas prices out east, they are usually the highest along with Quebec in Canada.
ReplyDeleteChris...Friday! See you there.

Haircuts in RV parks! Even though you don't stay in parks that much you could make a point of doing cuts in them. Had a friend who paid for all her extras all winter charging 100pesos per cut! Don't click on adsense much because I tend to get spammed for days after.

ReplyDeleteHi Contessa, you mentioned this once before and I responded but I guess you missed my response. The google system cannot possibly obtain your email address just because you visited an Adsense ad. The two cannot possibly be related. We visit other bloggers adsense and we do not get spam. You must have some other kind of problem.
