The drive from Digby yesterday morning was uneventful. We stopped at the Greenwood Mall again and used their free dump station, and filled up again at the propane place in Coldbrook because we were driving right by it anyhow. We used 35.2 litres (9.3 gallons, $39.48) of propane trying to stay warm in the wind at Brier Island !
We parked up at the end of an empty driveway beside Justin’s cousin’s house. It’s a nice little spot in the country, overlooking a pond and less than 10 minutes from Lindsey and Justin and Cameron. She has said we can stay here until Friday when they have some landscaping people coming to do some work.
Our parking spot for the next few days
We were running a bit behind schedule, so we rushed over to Lindsey’s and had a quick lunch. We had to be at the wine making place for 2:00pm to get our batch of 23 litres of wine. Rather than bottle it, we just put it back into the bags that the concentrate comes in. It’s a lot more convenient to carry around 3 boxes of wine in a motorhome instead of 23 bottles!
Then, we drove over to Wolfville to meet with a couchsurfer who had offered us parking in their driveway for a few days. We got there, and the first thing we noticed was that their driveway was too steep for a motorhome to be comfortable. It’s too bad, because we got along great with Emily and her parents and it would have been a nice spot. But we stayed and chatted for a while and hopefully we’ll keep in touch during our time in the area. We have two other couchsurfers who have offered a parking spot and we’re meeting with one of them this evening.
Then it was back to Lindsey’s where she had a roast leg of lamb on the go for dinner. It was sure good, with roast potatoes and carrots and turnip and gravy. Mmmmm.
Grandma and Cameron, with a funny look on his face. We notice he's grown already over the week we were gone!
Yesterday afternoon was beautiful and sunny, with a high of around 18C (65F). Almost like spring! However it only lasted a day because this morning is overcast with rain and that’s pretty much what’s in the forecast for the next few days. Gotta get some groceries done today and a little bit of running around. Nice to have our little car available to do that kind of thing!
I love the way you guys travel keeping the cost down,we are picking up a few pointers on how.
ReplyDeleteCameron is just to handsome and grandma looks to young to have grandkids.
Have a good week!!
Glad to see your back with family and Cameron, they sure make your day, Spring is making a late start here in MO. too. and we are several hundred miles south.B e safe out there. Sam & Donna...
ReplyDeleteBefore I read your caption I said to myself, how Cameron has grown!! I have never heard the term couchsurfer. Is it someone who travels only online via your blog?? We have been offered driveways before but the slope is a huge factor and usually does not work.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful spot you are parked in now. Couchsurfer, is that related to computer potato????
ReplyDeleteHey not a bad view... but the baby view is so much better. Love the pictures - ok now you need to talk more about the wine thing or take pictures. I am not a wine drinker but having it for our guest is something I do like to keep on hand.

Kenny and Angela...We are always looking for ways to keep our costs down and when we find them we like to pass them on.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wonderful compliment about Cameron and his Grandma, you are too kind.
Sam and Donna...I think spring is late everywhere. Today looking out our window, we can actually see a tinge of green on one of the trees nearby.
Contessa and pidge...If you look at today's post Kevin adds a link to one of our previous posts that explains what couchsurfing is.
Evielynne...The wine that we make, is done at a wine making shop which are available in Canada, not sure if they are in the States. The reason for this is wine is expensive in Canada and this makes it cheaper, about $4.75 per litre. You make a batch and then come back to the shop when it is ready to be bottled. We just put ours into the bags instead of bottles as it is easier store. We use the bags that the concentrated grape juice comes in and then place it in the empty boxes. We used 3 of them. When we are in the States we just buy the 5L boxes of higher quality Franzia for about $14 depending in what state you are in as it is just as cheap. Hope this helps.
