Getting ready to head out!

It was a windy, rainy day on Sunday, although it did clear up towards the end of the afternoon. The temperature actually went up to 12C (54F) but it didn’t feel that warm because of the wind and rain. We actually went to the mall for a couple of hours just to wander around somewhere warm. Didn’t buy a thing though!

And, we did a little bit of planning for the next week or ten days. Time to go exploring! I loaded the new MS Streets and Trips GPS edition that we won from Sam and Donna’s contest, and spent some time trying to figure out the software. Yes, I’m a guy, so I haven’t read the instructions yet! There are some things I can’t quite figure out, so I may have to do some reading.

Our first destination...it's only 195 kms (121 miles) but it'll probably take us 3 days to get there!

We’re going to head to what they call the “Digby Neck”, a stretch of land that goes to Brier Island in the Bay of Fundy. We need to take two ferries to get to the island, and at this time of year we’ll probably be the only ones there! Should be no problem finding boondocking spots. It’s about 195 kms (121 miles) to get there, so we should be there sometime Wednesday! We like to take our time! I wonder if our new "mi-fi" device will find a cell signal to get us on the internet there...

But before we leave, we need to pick up a batch of wine that we made at one of those “brew it yourself” places. $110 for 23 litres, so that’s not bad. We don’t bottle it, we store it in the large bags that the juice comes in because it’s easier than trying to figure out what to do with 23 bottles of wine in a motorhome. And, we need to fill up with propane because the tank is just about dry again. And we need to pick up some groceries. Also, Justin's cousin has said that we can park the car at her place while we’re gone.

We did manage to go for a walk yesterday. Oh, and it's Whiskey's birthday today! Happy 15th birthday Whiskey!

  1. I hope you three have an outstanding time out exploring. Happy Birthday Whiskey, I am glad you are feeling better!!! Hope your Wine tastes great. From my simple “off the top of my head math”, I think the price of the Wine is pretty good for Canada. Ellie made her own
Blackberry Wine last year and it was really very good. This year she is talking about attempting Rhubarb Wine.

  2. Happy Birthday Whiskey. Enjoy exploring some beautiful back country. Streets and trips is a great program for planning your routes, fuel expenses, traveling times and even finding local things like banks, libraries, parks, campgrounds etc.. even navigating if you got the GPS that comes with it. Keep warm.

  8. Happy Birthday, Whiskey...

The years have sure been kind to you...... you haven't aged a bit !!

To quote Andy Rooney.. "The average dog is a nicer person than the average person"

  9. Whiskey wants thank everyone for her birthday wishes. She had a great day with a couple of birthday treats (part of a pig's ear) and a nice walk with lots to smells along the way.

John and Ellen...I think the only other way of having a cheaper bottle of wine is to make your own at home. Weather still sucks, but we will make the best of it.

George and Suzie...I think we will have lots of fun with it. It has the GPS with it and it also includes Mexico maps :).

Contessa...Don't know what is up with the weather! I think most of Canada is covered with cold weather at the moment.

Trent and Teresa...Thanks and its nice to hear from you again. Hope you are both doing well.
