Crescent Beach (day 2)

Yesterday morning was still cool, although the rain held off long enough for us to go for a 14 km (8.7 mile) bike ride. We haven’t had the bikes on the road since Mexico!

There’s a series of interconnecting islands just the other side of Crescent Beach. It’s a really pretty area, and the road is paved the whole way. Funny that it doesn’t show up on Google Maps, but I found it on the satellite view from Navteq Maps.

You can park at the beginning of Crescent Beach (GPS 44.2351 -64.4136) and go for a walk on the beach or get your bikes and cycle over to the islands. It’s only a small parking area though, and it may be fairly busy in the summer.

Crescent Beach

Nice spot for a home

The only possible boondocking spot on the islands (GPS 44.2234 -64.3664)

But you do have to cross this bridge to get to it!

Good thing that we enjoyed our morning bike ride because it poured with rain for much of the afternoon and continued in the evening. Buckets of rain, and that’s what’s in the forecast for the next few days. Nice weather, if you’re a duck.

Not sure what we’ll accomplish today. So far it’s totally overcast but not raining yet. Maybe we’ll try and squeeze a walk in down at the provincial park.

  1. Nova Scotia sure looks like a beautiful area. It's on our LONG list of places to see someday. I'll stop complaining about our weather as it seems yours is even worse :)

    Happy Mother's Day!

  2. Gotta get out and enjoy the nice weather when its here at this time of year, doesn't seem to last long. Gotta love exploring those area's. I did so many trips there in the 1970,s and once in 1994, your tour is giving us the itch to get back and explore some more.

  7. I'm enjoying Nova Scotia with you - love the pics - looks like you are enjoying yourselves and that is great! We were there several years ago when I was on a sabbatical travel trip from teaching. Have you been to Peggy's Cove yet?

  8. Kevin and Evelyn...I know what you mean about a long list of places to visit. It is beautiful though and if you get the chance it will be well worth it. I think almost everyone's weather sucks lately.

George and Suzie...Yep, we try to go out when we can find gaps in the weather. The scenery is gorgeous here.

Sam and Donna...Thanks Sam, I had a good one. Hope Donna was able to enjoy hers too.

Chris...Thanks Chris! Whiskey says hi back along with a nice tail wag.

    Sandybee...Thank you!

Evielynne...Enjoy your ride. We love biking, just wishing the weather would co-operate.

Connie and Barry...We are enjoying ourselves, despite the weather. We have been to Peggy's Cove many years ago and I am sure we sill stop by on our travels this time, but we will do it hopefully before the summer crowd comes otherwise it will be a zoo there.
