On Saturday, I went out to breakfast with two school friends that I have known since Grade 1. That was so long ago, but we always manage to get together at least once a year. It was nice to get see them and catch up on all the news.
In the late afternoon my Dad's church was having a Chicken BBQ that he treated Alex and I too. We had a great meal of a half chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, drink and dessert. We sure left there full. My brother and his son, Matthew came over a little later in the evening and we had a good game of "Bugger Your Neighbour". I lost the game but we had lots of laughs Talking about cards I've been kicking Alex's butt playing cribbage over this past week, he taught me too well!
On Sunday we had our walk after lunch. We have been seeing deer almost every time we go out either on the hike or on the drive there or back but I haven't been able to capture a picture of one. Have been seeing lots of baby goslings though.

After the walk we headed to Kevin's Mom's for dinner. She moved to a retirement home in Ottawa this spring and has a one bedroom apartment that she really enjoys. It is a full apartment so she is able to cook her own meals but for a treat she took us to supper in the dining room there where we enjoyed a great meal with wine included. A funny thing happened, after we finsished eating dinner a lady who was sitting at the table behind us came over to us and looked at Alex and said "Is this Kevin?" She knew Kevin's Mom and also knew Kevin and Elaine (Kevin's oldest sister) because she used to teach them both. This lady was Kevin's kindergarden teacher. It was too funny. We had a good laugh and had a short talk with her. What a spunky lady, she had just returned from visiting Polermo, Italy.
Woke up this morning to a beautiful blue sky, what a great sight that was. As I was sitting in the TV room with my computer, I looked out the window and saw a mother and father goose with three little gosslings in the yard. First time I have ever seen that at this house, so of course I had to go and get the camera. After taking a couple of pictures my Dad and I got them herded back up through the yard to the bush behind so that they could safely make the way to the river, we were so afraid they were going to try to get to the river from the front of the house and the highway and didn't want to see them get hit. So that was my excitment for the day.
On Wednesday I will be moving Alex down to Ottawa, where he will be sharing an apartment with three other people while he works at the Tennis Camp for the summer and then on Thursday I will be heading back to Nova Scotia to be with Kevin and Whiskey. Looking forward to seeing the changes in Cameron and visiting with Lindsey and Justin before we head off to do the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island.

Those babies are so cute. I'm sure glad you were able to herd them safely away from the road. We always enjoy having lunch or dinner with my Aunt at her retirement home. It's always an interesting time visiting with all her friends.
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice that you are able to to spend some time with family and friends every once in a while.
ReplyDeleteFriends from Grade 1, amazing. Best I have is grade 7 and that is so very special. Love the baby photos, still have not seen any here. Enjoy your final day with your Dad!
