After we were done our hike yesterday, we decided to head back to our boondocking spot by the closed up fish processing plant. It was nice and quiet there, and only about 5 kms (3 miles) back from the National Park visitor centre. It was foggy when we got back there! There was a foghorn going off every few minutes so we thought that might affect our sleep, but it had cleared up by the time we went to bed.
Foggy late afternoon stroll
The reason we don't camp in the park is the cost. They want another $25.50 for a dry camping spot in the campground. If you want hookups, it's $29.40 for and electric site, or $35.50 for full hookups. Add $3.00 if you want a site with a fire pit. Note that this is on top of your daily $7.80 per adult park entry fee. So in effect, you are paying $15.60 plus your campsite for each night!
So, we drive the short distance outside the park and boondock.
Anyhow, gotta go do an 8.4 km (5.2 mile) hike...talk to ya'll later!
Great spot, hope you get some sunshine today. Wow the camping fees are really get up there!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't camp there either, at those prices. The fog looks nice and cool and inviting!
ReplyDeleteVery expensive - I much prefer your spot by the old fish plant. Don't forget to give us your km readings each day. I need an excuse to celebrate and I figure your reaching your goal would be a great one.
ReplyDeleteLove the heron shot!
ReplyDeleteGeorge and Suzie...We did, thank you! The lady cleaning the washroom said it hasn't been nearly as busy these last couple of summers...I wonder why?
ReplyDeleteKaren and Al...It had been foggy there all day, but on our hike it was nice. We could hear the foghorn in the distance.
Jim and Sandie...We did too! We will keep you posted on the daily total of our km's hiked.
Contessa...Thank you!
