Lone Shieling Trail

Another short walk, not really a hike at all. And with a full service washroom facility in the middle of the short trail, this one is almost not worth stopping at. We give this trail a 2.5 out of 10.

This is a .6 km walking trail going through a protected hardwood maple forest, one of the few on Cape Breton Island.

Some bonehead bureaucrat made a decision years ago to put a full service washroom facility in the middle of this short trail. Kind of takes away from the ambiance of the place!

    Ambiance is great, but you can't pee on it.

    George Fraser : At one time the Lone Shieling had a picnic area with heavy use....the washroom facilities were necessary, Even today it is one of the few outdoor nature walks where seniors can enjoy connecting with nature,,, and I am sure they appreciate the washrooms!
