May expenses and Adsense income

Well May was a little cheaper, coming in at just over $1,500 in expenses. And our Adsense had a record month! So overall, it was a decent month.

We spent $311 on fuel, and only $140 of that went in the motorhome. The rest went in the little car, and Ruth put some gas in her Dad's truck to go pick up Alex from school in the U.S. June will likely be a little higher because we leave for Cape Breton on Friday, and the gas tank is pretty much empty right now.

We used less propane in May. One, because it was warmer than April (but not much!) and two, we are plugged into electric where we are currently parked and we use a little electric heater. But we will owe our host some money for using her electricity that we will pay during the month of June. We spent $38 on propane in May.

Groceries, at $360, were better than expected. But the freezer is getting some space in it, and Ruth was away for almost two weeks. June will likely be higher.

Spent $255 on booze, but again, we did another $112 batch of wine in that amount. June will be lower.

Miscellaneous was better, at $284. Our average is about $452. This includes anything from vet bills to internet costs to laundry.

Entertainment was low again, at $27. This was for a couple of meals out.

And, we spent $249 on Sherman. Most of this is the new shocks that I bought.

So $1,500 for the month is not bad, but we can live for less than $1,200 a month in Mexico so we're thinking of heading back there early this year. Maybe even in September!

On the revenue side of things, we made $269.74 with Adsense, by far our best month ever! But, I had lots of free time on my hands and did a lot of research into what works and how to increase your Adsense revenue. Maybe it will pay off with consistent long term growth in website advertising income. It's starting to make a huge difference in being able to continue doing what we're doing.

  4. Your expenses are looking good, gotta love the lifestyle, as well as the adsense income. And thanks to your advice our adsense income is growing in leaps and bounds!

  5. Good for you!! I wouldn't know where to begin with adsense. Often thought about doing it, but it frightens me too. I remember when Tioga George first started with adsense, and he wasn't making very much. With his millions of readers now, I bet he is making a bundle...

  6. I am so impressed that you can do it on $1500 a month. We certainly are not as disciplined and we aren't set up for boondocking yet. Thanks for sharing.

  7. How do you maintain your Canadian medical coverage? I thought you could only be out of the country for 6 months.

  8. Donna...Thanks!

Sue and Doug...Thanks, we keep trying to do better, but sometimes things come up that you just can't help, and you have to spend more.

    Contessa...Might be a possibility!

George and Suzie...Love the lifestyle! Glad things are looking up for you with adsense.

pidge...All I can say is read up on it and once you have it in there's really nothing else you have to do. It takes a long time to achieve the followers that Tioga George has.

Janie and John...We have fun finding ways to do things frugally and still have a good time. We love the fact that we are set up for boondocking we have stayed in some beautiful spots for free.

Elaine...Kevin has answered your question in the next blog post.

  9. Kevin,

First time here and I got to say that that I love your blog.

We have quite a few things in common, I too love Maine, Mexico (Playa del Carmen especially), have a wife named Ruth also, and make some money off Adsense.

It's refreshing to see that you can get my on so little, because it gives me hope. I do quite well with affiliate marketing and know I could survive in most parts of the world, just not in the US.

Is your wife involved in the niche marketing?

  10. Joe...Glad you are enjoying our blog. Unfortunately as you can see we don't have Adsense anymore. Would like to know more about the affiliate marketing though and not sure what niche marketing is?

  11. Hi there!

I have my AdBlock turned off, and I still don't see your ads. My clicking finger is ready to click once or twice! Have you given them a holiday?

  12. Oh! I just read your response - sorry. I really only ever clicked once or twice per post. Did the bastages pull your account? Not that it's my business, but if so, I'll remove my tiny ads in solidarity.
