Back in Canning, Nova Scotia

Well we had a fun Canada Day yesterday! We got up early and drove from the national park to Paula and Jerry's and picked up our little car. Then we took Sherman to Canning and parked up at our couchsurfing friend Tracey's house.

Then, we went with Lindsey, Justin, and Cameron to the village of Hantsport where Justin's mother lives and took in their Canada Day parade. And the weather was beautiful!

Everyone loves a parade!

Too funny

Lindsey jumped in the pool!

Not sure if I've mentioned this already, but we have changed our travel plans quite a bit. Originally, we were going to spend all summer in Nova Scotia and head back to Ottawa for the month of September and then south in October. Now, we are going to leave here this coming Wednesday!

We're going to take the month of July and drive back to Ottawa through Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. We've never spent very much time in those states, only having driven quickly through them a couple of times. Then we'll spend the month of August parked up at Ruth's Dad's place just outside of Ottawa. Then after Labour Day weekend we will head for Mexico! We will cross into Mexico before the end of September and spend at least six months there! We can't wait to get back to Mexico!

  8. Nice to see it was hot enough to jump in the pool. Either that, or Lindsay is one of those brave souls that doesn't mind a bit of cool water. Gah!
I'd just as soon do my swimming in the tropics, thanks.
Happy to see your Canada Day was an enjoyable experience. The Shriner/Fred Flintstone dude was hilarious.
    Nice post. Thanks.

  10. John and Carol...We are looking forward to more exploring. Hope you will enjoy the ride.

Jim and Sandie...Did it 3 years ago but only had a week or so going through the area and just loved it.

Life's a Journey...Your time will come. You have an adventure of your own coming up. Enjoy meeting up with Tara and your travels back home with her.

Sue and Doug...Thank you. Hope you are enjoying your trip.

Contessa...Who can say no to a local parade, plus everyone loves an excuse for a party.

Sam and Donna...Kevin enjoyed a beer or two for you. Have fun at the lake with Adam.

Chris...We'll have to have a campout when we get there. Enjoy Valle de Juarez. Let Sal and Barb know we will be there for a month in the fall.

Bob...It was beautiful if you were sitting in the sun, afraid the water wasn't warm enough for us to go in the pool. Lindsey was being brave! Yep, loved the Flintstonemobile.

George and Suzie...So do we. Looking forward to lots more hiking. It is a great area for that.

  11. Did you head up to Scots Bay while in Canning area? I lived in Canning for about 7 years and I hope to make it up to Scots bay on this trip. It is so expensive here though we will be cutting our time short as well. It's pretty sad when lobster is cheaper then milk! Good for a treat but how do people live here pating that much for milk all the time? Did you ever find a reason on that past post you did?

  12. Brooke...Yes, we did go to Scots Bay, twice actually. We never parked there overnight but here is the post with what we think would be a great boondocking spot there www.travelwithkevinandruth.com/2011/04/no-grandbaby-yet.html Kevin included the GPS location in the post. We were also up there the other day to do the Cape Split hike. As for the milk issue, the only info we got on it was in this post www.travelwithkevinandruth.com/2011/05/price-of-milk.html
