Happy Independence Day!

First of all, Happy Independence day to all of our American friends! I am wearing my once a year t-shirt for you all today!

Yesterday, we went for a nice 16 km (10 mile) hike out to a point called Cape Split. For the most part, it's a fairly easy walk in the forest leading to a small field overlooking some very steep cliffs. It's a popular hike, and one of the busiest trails we've ever been on. Of course it was also a very nice day, and a Sunday on a long weekend so there were lots of people out and about.

The trail was a little muddy in spots

It was a little foggy at the end of the trail. Half an hour after this picture was taken, you could hardly see the rocks sticking up out of the water.

It was a nice hike, even though the trail was busy. We've done so much hiking over the last month or so that to do a 16km (10 mile) one doesn't take a lot out of us. Now that we're getting in pretty good shape for this sort of thing we have to keep it up! Use it, or lose it...as the saying goes!

  6. Loved seeing these photos of the trail. When we were there, it was the windiest, rainiest day I have ever seen, even wilder than the Oregon coast. I tried to take a video (it's on the blog) but it was nearly impossible. I have to get back there. Lovely post, and thanks for the shirt!

  7. Fog is so interesting, the way is slowly creeps in and then out again. Mysterious curls of nothingness!
