It was a HOT one though. We found some shade beside a community baseball diamond and parked Sherman there and sat outside in the shade. Even in the shade, the temperature inside the motorhome was 97F (36C) and that was with the roof vent fan on and all the windows open. When we woke up this morning, it was 79F (26C) inside. But, it's the middle of July, it's supposed to be hot isn't it?? We would rather be too hot than too cold!
Out for a short walk in the forest. Too hot to go any further!
We decided that a parking area near the school and ball diamond would be okay for overnighting, so after the sun got a little lower in the sky we moved to that spot. Then, we took Whiskey for a walk over to the North Conway scenic train ride and looked at the trains. Took these pics for you, Sam!
On our stroll last night, we noticed the "Mount Washington Observatory Discovery Center", which is an interactive science museum about Mount Washington's weather. It's only a five minute walk away from us, and it's FREE! So we're going to hang around this morning until it opens at 10:00am.
Then, we think we know of a spot by a river where we can take the little car and the lawn chairs and sit in the shade and maybe take a dip in the river. It's going to be nice and warm again today!
Sherman, parked up near a school in North Conway.
The train pictures are beautiful. Good luck staying cool today. The observatory sounds like a great find.
ReplyDeleteLooks great there, a shady spot by the river is a perfect way to spend a hot summer day. Cooling down is a lot nicer that trying to get warm in the cold weather.
ReplyDeleteSomeone likes trains. Cool picture of the walk in the woods.
ReplyDeleteLove the train photos and glad you're having a good time in North Conway... We've stayed there several times and love it! Don't forget to visit the Kancamagus Hwy... it is very scenic!
ReplyDeleteHave fun & Travel safe
Donna
enjoy the sitting by the river today!!!..peace and quiet.. perfection!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for thinking of me and taking the pictures that old signal in the background was where the term Hi-Ball originated.ave you decided on the Mt Washington Cog Rail ride,It will be cold at the top, as it is higher than Pikes Peak.Be safe out there. Sam & Donna
ReplyDeleteNice warm 11c here in Vancouver this morning!! NOT! Love the pics.
ReplyDeletePoor Whiskey looks likes she's about ready to trip over her tongue. Can't imagine wearing that fur coat!
ReplyDeleteHopefully all that heat doesn't also mean a rip snorting storm coming through. RVs and tornadoes don't get along.
Jim and Sandie...We like how they keep of these older trains operating. The observatory was very interesting.
ReplyDeleteGeorge and Suzie...Never did make it to the river.
FULL-TIMERS...OCT. 17, 2009...Took the train picturs for Sam of samdonna-5thwheelvagabonds.blogspot.com/ he loves trains.
Donna...We never made it onto the Kancamagus Hwy, we did do a couple of the other senic roads in the area though. That one will have to wait until the next time we are here.
Sue and Doug...Unfortunately we never got there!
Sam and Donna...Glad you enjoyed the pictures. We are hiking up the mountain instead. We have gone over budget in the entertainment section so we can't afford it, perfer to do the hike anyways.
trkdrivinfool...Sorry you guys aren't having great weather out there, as you know up until July we weren't having good weather either. You have our sympathy.
Bob...Whiskey is doing just fine. When it's hot out she is happy to curl up in the shade. Doesn't look like any bad weather is coming our way.
