New flooring...preview

I had to post a couple of pics just so you know I have been working! It's a bigger job than I thought it was going to be. Cutting out the old carpet on the entrance stairs was difficult and they had so many staples holding it in there that it was apparently not meant to be removed!

However, the carpet is totally done, and the flooring is more than half done. The only areas left are the entrance steps and the bathroom itself. The bathroom is of course a very small area so it won't take very long to do, but of course I have to remove the toilet. That will be this morning's job. But the steps are a little more difficult.

Old carpet removed

The second step is hinged because we access two of our batteries under there. I am buying a new piano hinge for that step. And the flooring isn't designed to be installed vertically, but I am going to use construction adhesive to install it on the sides. So it's a bit of a job, but it's coming together. I can picture the finished product now, and we're very happy with the way it looks.

Here's a little preview of where the new flooring meets the new carpet!

Taking a break from working on Sherman this morning as we are headed to the airport to pick up our daughter and grandson!

  9. It looks really great Kevin! Construction adhesive is the answer for the stairs. That is the method I used and it was still holding well when our son sold the rig.

  11. Wow, we can't believe how many people are following our flooring progress. Thanks for all the comments once again. We sure are looking forward to seeing the finished product ourselves. For those who have mentioned that Kevin could come and do theirs, I think that by the time he finishes ours he will be hanging up his tools. It's definitely a bigger job than he was expecting it to be.

Elaine and Rick...We sure will enjoy our short visit with Lindsey and Cameron. Whiskey is doing great, she is back to normal and being a pain in the butt. She is going for good walks again (we went on 4km or about 2 miles hike the other morning)and having no problems with keeping up and is loving it.

Grace...Hope you enjoy our Baja travels. We had a few funny moments!

Sam and Donna...Sure hope you don't critique it too hard!
