Got Sherman all ready to go yesterday, and we're hitting the road!
Leaving here in 20 minutes and have to be at our emissions test appointment for 9:00am, then to a license bureau for a sticker dated 2014, then to the U.S. border. Have our route all planned out on the streets and trips GPS and will have Ruth by my side since she hasn't been driving in Sherman since Nova Scotia.
Yesterday I got the little car parked at an indoor storage place near here for $400 for two years. Now I can remove most of the insurance from it, and paying the storage is way cheaper than paying the insurance!
No time left....gotta go! See you sometime late afternoon, John and Ellen!
Good luck and travel safely, hope to run into you somewhere on the road. Now we are really getting itchy feet!
ReplyDeleteSafe travels! Will enjoy traveling along with you two.
ReplyDeleteI know you are glad to finally be heading south. Drive safely.
ReplyDeleteYeahhhhh your on your way...travel safe my friends...glad your back in the same vehicle :)...will be watching for your updates...
ReplyDeleteWhen I stored mine, I took the road/liability/collision part off my insurance, and kept the Fire, Theft, Falling trees, Falling Aircraft part on it. I was about $25 for six months. I felt safer that way.
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip.

ReplyDeleteGood luck at the border. That can sometimes get a little dicey getting across depending on the border person in the booth. Safe travels and I think Sam is already at the end of his driveway watching for y'all:))

Thanks again for all the comments. I am sorry but we have been so busy that I haven't had time to reply to comments from the previous few days but I will do that sometime today or tomorrow as there were a few questions that were asked but not answered. Yes, we are happy to be on the road again and Sherman was purring like a kitten. It was sad saying good-bye to family and friends but hopefully we can see them in Mexico otherwise they will have to wait for us to fly back to for a visit sometime next year. Also want to apologize to everyone who writes a blog, we have just been too busy to do any blog reading so hopefully we can start catching up on that as well.
ReplyDeletePenny...We are leaving the comprehensive on the car while it is stored although they will only keep it on the car for one year after our renewal which is in November but even with that we are still saving more on the insurance than what we have to pay for the storage.
Sam and Donna...We're not going through Scanton, sorry we can't blow the horn for Wendy. Yep, can't see us arriving at night. We avoid night driving altogether. See ya soon!
THE BAYFIELD BUNCH...Totally comes down to the border guard you have. Luckily this was one of our quickest crossings at the border with the motorhome. I think Sam and Donna are looking forwad to company and Riggs is eager to meet Whiskey!
brightswheelife.blogspot.com...Hope you enjoy our travels in Mexico enough that you will want to venture south of the border too!
Kevin, Ruth and Whiskey
Where in Mexico are you going....we are headed there to la cruz in Nov..Stan & Marilyn
ReplyDeleteStan and Marilyn...We will be travelling all around Mexico. We have a few favorite places we want to go back to but there are also some new places that we want to explore. If it is La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, we have never been there, I would like to head up that coast, so who knows maybe we will this year. Keep checking on our blog and if it looks like we may be in the area, email us and let us know. Always nice to meet up with our readers.
