O'Fallon, Missouri

Another long driving day, but now we can relax! We actually slept in yesterday morning, and didn't leave the winery until almost 8:00am. Whiskey seems to be back into her normal schedule now that we've left Ruth's Dad's where she had been waking up around 6:00am every morning.

We did most of the day today on the Interstate, and other than one small stretch of road repairs, the highway was in generally good condition. We bought just enough gas to get us to Missouri because there is a big difference in price. Gas was $3.85 a gallon ($1.00 per litre CAN) in Illinois and only $3.27 ($0.86) in Missouri. We almost made it, but ended up stopping just before Missouri and putting in another $40 worth at $3.49 ($0.92).

Welcome to Illinois

Welcome to Missouri

We pulled into Sam and Donna's around 3:30pm and got set up outside the garage. The interesting thing about the blogging world is that you seem to know somebody fairly well even though you've never met. It's a really neat thing then to actually meet!

We had some delicious steaks on the grill for dinner and spent the evening solving the worlds problems.

Sam, getting ready to pour the ketchup on his steak!

Donna made a Canada cake!

Riggs is such a good boy!

Yesterday's drive, 299 miles (478 kms)

In honour of September 11th, we remember our visit to New York City back in October of 2000. Today's header picture was taken from the ferry to Stanton Island.

  1. Ketchup on steak - my kind of man. And you are so right. We know these blogging friends even if we haven't met them. They are a definite part of our life.

  2. Hm, not too sure about that whole "ketchup on steak" thing, but to each his own. That beer looks suspiciously like Moosehead. Am I seeing things? Trying to think of an American beer that would look similar, but I'm coming up empty.
That cake is hilarious. I once had one in the shape of a beer bottle with "Bobweiser" on it, but no Canadian flags so far. Of course, we'd need many, many more people around to consume that much cake these days. Have to watch my girlish figure. *snort*!

  10. Still trying to catch up on the replys to the comments again.

    Kenny and Angela...Thanks!

Jim and Sandie...Not you too, ketchup on steak...ick!!! They sure are a part of our lives.

Bob...We agree, ketchup doesn't belong on steak. Yes, that is Moosehead on the table. Sam bought it so that Kevin would feel at home and Kevin brought some Alexander Keith's so that Sam could try out a real Canadian beer.

Donna...Thanks, we did have a great time.

Kimberly and Jerry...That is one thing that Kevin and I don't use to often, except maybe on fries and we don't have them that often either.

    Sue and Doug...Thanks, we did.

Jim and Dee...It sure is a small world.

Janie and John...Our list of bloggers and readers is definitely growing. We love meeting everyone.

Elaine...Thanks! The cake was delicious, and Nicole did such a great job helping Donna with it.

Karen and Steve...We wish you were there as well. We had such a good time.
