One more sleep!

We head out tomorrow! And other than Sherman needing a bit of a tidy up, we're pretty much ready to go. The only thing I didn't get done was to finish cleaning the roof and touching up the roof caulking. That will have to be done on the road sometime because it's supposed to rain on and off here today.

Oh, and I still have to sort through everything in the lower compartments and leave behind anything we haven't used in the last year or so. There won't be much though, so it won't take very long to do. But the big flooring job is pretty much done. I still have a couple of small trim pieces to install, but other than that, here's the finished product...

Entrance steps - before

Entrance steps - after

Very happy with the way the entrance steps came out. There's almost a little too much brass trim though. Almost looks a little too rich for Sherman, but it makes a good first impression!

The bathroom was a lot of work. Building the boxes that go over the pipes and wires was a bit of a job, as was cutting and trimming all the wood and flooring to fit around everything. But whoever decided to put carpet in a bathroom was not thinking, and it had to go!

Bathroom - before. (I actually forgot to take a "before" picture of the bathroom and this one is from 4 years ago when we first met Sherman.)

Bathroom - after

And so the carpet is now gone from the entrance through to the bathroom. New carpet is in the dining/living area so the only old carpet left is up in the driving area and the bedroom.

Today will be spent in final preparation. Not sure when we'll make it back to Canada, but I know that I won't miss it. We have set things up so that Sherman can remain in Mexico up until the summer of 2014 if we want him to, so our next return to Canada will be by plane. Whiskey is 15 years old, so she will likely never return to Canada. Hopeful that friends and family will come and visit us in Mexico, we would so much enjoy showing people the Mexico that you never hear about. Either way, we'll be showing you that Mexico right here!

  6. The floor looks great. I'm glad that the only carpeting in my rig is in the cab, and I would like to change that to some type of rubber coating, but not sure how to go about doing that.

  7. We are anxiously awaiting you arrival, Donna did some more baking and we are scrubbing around here and there. Don't worry if it looks a little overgrown when you get here, yesterday it was 80 fior the first time in months Saturday it was 104, today will be in the upper 70's so we will be out side trimming for the first tome in a couple months and Sam will spend the afternoon on John Deere. We will put you in front of our one garage stall so you will have access to 30 amp just in case you need A/C while you are here, you jst don't know if 90 degree weather will be back in a couple of days. Have a safe journey and see you soon. Sam & Donna.

  20. Once again, thank you everyone for all the complimentary comments on the results of Kevin's work on the new flooring in Sherman. He did a great job and we are really happy with the end product.

Rick and Elaine...The vet said that Whiskey was the "little pink bunny" because she keeps going and going just like "Energizer Bunny" so you are right you just never know!

Pete, Pam and Gracie...Good luck with the sale of your store, we hope it all goes through without a hitch. It would be nice if you are able to get away if only for a little while, you both deserve some time off. Keep telling Pam about our adventures in Mexico and showing her our pictures and maybe you will convince her to come down.

Karen and Al...No, we aren't plannig on it, if we can help it. We will go back for family visits but you also never know what the future holds.

Teri...Check out the internet, it is always full of ideas and how to's. I am sure there is a way to get it done.

    George and Suzie...Thanks!

Contessa...We are and I am sure you are excited to head down too.

Paul and Helen...I hope our paths will cross too. We will check your blog as well.

Levonne...Hope you enjoy our ride. Glad to hear that the couchsurfing worked out so well for you. We really love it!

    Janie and John...Thanks!
