Whiskey

Whiskey passed away just after 1:00am this morning. We had a great 15 1/2 years with her.

She was not herself all evening. She couldn't settle down and didn't seem to be able to get air into her lungs. She just wanted us to pet her and be with her. She just got worse and worse and we knew this was going to be it. We stayed up with her until she stopped breathing. Then we cried lots. Still crying...

We miss you Whiskey!

  2. Oh dear. Poor Whiskey. She didn't seem to be so much "in the news" lately after the vet visits and such of a few weeks back, so this is rather sudden.
    I'm sad to read it.
She had a long life, and really got to experience a lot of different places. You treated her well. You can take some comfort in that.
I do think dogs know how much they are loved, and she died knowing you loved her.

    Best to you.

    Bob.

  28. Howdy Ruth & Kevin,
Please, accept this message of condolence & love
in the loss of your 'Whiskey'.. We know what it is to lose a long-time friend.. We lost Scotch, at 16 years; Skipper @ 17 years; Shelby @ 17 year; and @ 18 years.. Joyce took Shelby to the vet and he told her to bring her back in the morning.. Joyce lay by her side until she breathed her last breathe and told her how much she was loved... She knew it... They were all
    very good companions and friends..
Just remember she's waiting at The Rainbow Bridge for y'all!!! Ours are, too...

Smooth roads, clear skies & balmy breezes!!!

I am so ashamed I couldn't recall his name... He was a 'rascal', if ever there was one!!!

  31. That is sad news for sure, and we've lost our lab BOOMER in Denver in 2008. We cried for days.
And Boomer ws the 3rd. dog we lost. Now we have only Molly, our beloved charmer who is loved by everybody.
15+ years is a good age for a dog and I am sure Whiskey had the best lifes of all dogs. Saying GoodBye is something we need to live with.

  32. Reading the first line of your post, I teared up and feel so sad for your loss. I looked back up at the photo of Whiskey and find that her eyes look so wise. I know your hurting a terrible hurt. Our animals are like our children. We love them so much.

  33. So very sorry, perhaps she waited till she got back to her beloved Mexico. My tears are falling and my heart is heavy. All you can do is cry and hold each other. She was a huge part of your life and now will live on in your hearts and mind. You shared a special 15 1/2 years, keep her close in thought. Hugs and more hugs. Words don't really help but those of us with pets do understand the pain & grief you are experiencing. Love each other!

  38. We don't know what to say other than thank you for all your kind words, they really mean so much to us. This blog world has given us a whole other family of friends even if we have never virtually met, it feels like we all know each other. All your kind words have given us strength. We have beautiful memories of Whiskey and know that she did live a full and happy life. Our heart goes out to all you "furkid" owners that have recently lost your companions, I know that there have been a few of you as well as those that have lost their pets over the years because reading of a loss of someone's pet always rekindles your own memories.

I wish I could reply to each comment individually but there are just too many. Again we thank you and Whiskey thanks you from Doggie Heaven.

All our love, Ruth and Kevin

I am so very sorry to hear about little Whiskey. It is so hard to lose a beloved pet. It's been a month since we lost Squeaky and I still cry every day. We didn't plan on getting another kitten, but I have to say little Baxter has sure helped us....still we cry.

You can take comfort in the fact that she lived a long life and had the best care possible.

    I'm crying with you.

Karen and Al, I have been so busy over the last month or two I haven't done much blog reading or posting comments and I just wanted to say I am sorry to you for your loss of Squeaky, we know how very much you loved her and cared for her up to the end, like us with Whiskey.
